United Methodist Men along with family members and friends of the Potomac Highland Conference gathered at the Pendleton Picnic Shelter at Blackwater Falls Resort State Park in Davis, WV, the evening of June 28 for Christian fellowship and a picnic. Pictured above are “chief grillers” District Superintendent Dallas Forren on the left and Pastor Jim Martin of the Blackwater Charge.
Following the “covered dish” picnic, Herb Lambert, District President of the United Methodist Men and Certified Lay Minister of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oakland, MD, presented a devotional message that challenged everyone to listen when God calls them. He emphasized the importance of not running or turning your back on God, and narrated the story of how Jonah had first refused to listen to God, but by finally obeying God, he was able to save the city of Nineveh.
Dr. Lambert also passed out brochures advertising the WV United Methodist Men’s Retreat at Jackson’s Mill the weekend of September 10-12, 2010 and encouraged as many men as possible to attend the spirit-filled event. Registration forms for the retreat can be found on the Potomac Highlands District Website: www.phdumc.com.
