RE: Annual Evaluation Process
Once again it is time for each of us to undertake the annual Evaluation of Clergy. This annual process is in accordance with ¶350.1 of the 2008 United Methodist Book of Discipline.
In the materials you will find an Evaluation of Clergy which is to be used by all appointed elders, associate members, probationary members, and local pastors (full and part time). There is also an Evaluation of Clergy – Deacon which is to be used by all full member and probationary deacons to evaluate the particular work done by the deacon within the local church setting. The materials are provided in two formats: one which can be printed and filled in, and one which can be completed electronically. Please use the form which best suits your particular situation.
The process is designed to invite on-going conversation between the committee and the pastor and/or deacon. Also note the “Standards for Clergy Leadership” which provide a vision for “effective” clergy leadership.
All materials are to be completed and returned to the District Superintendent’s office no later than May 31, 2012. Know that this evaluation process takes some time to complete, so please begin soon. This is an important task for your congregation and your pastor. Please provide an honest and helpful evaluation of the work and ministry you share.
